Synopsis
This chapter offers best practices for recruiting, training, and supervising graduate student workers. The important function these student workers provide to the library requires seriousness with respect to their orientation, training, and ongoing development. Williams emphasizes the importance of clear communication, meaningful engagement, and skill development to enhance student staff contributions and retention, while aligning their work with the library’s mission and their vocational goals.
